You can put your AirTag in Lost Mode, just like you would with any other Apple product. This way, as soon as a device on the network detects it, you'll automatically receive a notification. You can also configure it so that someone can contact you by tapping the AirTag with an NFC-enabled smartphone, the same technology used for mobile payments.
