The Nothing Ear (open) headphones offer an open sound experience, allowing you to listen to music, podcasts, and calls without completely losing awareness of your surroundings. Their design leaves the ear canal free, making them especially suitable for walking, working out, or wearing for extended periods.

Open design and comfort

Each earbud weighs only 8.1 grams and uses a three-point support structure to better distribute the weight around the ear. The ear hook incorporates soft silicone contact and a flexible nickel-titanium wire that helps maintain a stable fit during movement.

The speaker is angled approximately 50 degrees to sit over the ear without entering the ear canal. The fit may vary depending on the shape and size of each ear.

Sound

The headphones feature a 14.2 mm dynamic driver with a stepped structure designed to bring the sound closer to the ear. Their titanium-coated PET diaphragm aims to reduce distortion and improve bass and treble response.

The Bass Enhance algorithm detects low frequencies and adjusts playback, while the Nothing X app's advanced eight-band equalizer lets you customize the sound profile.

Sound and call privacy

The Sound Seal System uses directional speakers and acoustic compensation waves to reduce the amount of sound projected outwards. This feature minimizes audio leakage, although it does not guarantee complete privacy in quiet environments or at high volumes.

For calls, it incorporates a two-microphone system with Clear Voice Technology , trained by artificial intelligence to reduce ambient noise and echo picked up by the microphone.

This model does not have active noise cancellation for listening . Its open-back design is specifically intended to maintain some awareness of the surroundings.

Battery and charging

The earbuds offer up to 8 hours of music playback on a single charge and a combined battery life of up to 30 hours using the charging case . For calls, the indicated battery life reaches up to 6 hours with the earbuds and up to 24 hours with the charging case.

Fast charging provides up to 2 hours of playback on the earbuds with just 10 minutes of charging . The charging case charges via USB-C and does not support wireless charging.

Connectivity and controls

The Bluetooth 5.3 connection supports AAC and SBC codecs. It also includes Google Fast Pair, Microsoft Swift Pair, and simultaneous connection to two devices.

Pressure-sensitive controls allow you to manage playback, calls, and other configurable functions. The Nothing X app adds an equalizer, control customization, headphone location, low-latency mode, and firmware updates.

Voice integration with ChatGPT requires a compatible Nothing phone, Nothing OS, and the appropriate versions of the Nothing X and ChatGPT apps.

Endurance

Both the earbuds and the charging case are IP54 certified for dust and water splash resistance . This protection does not allow for immersion and may decrease with normal wear and tear.

Before storing or charging the headphones, it is necessary to dry them completely if they have been exposed to rain or sweat.
